What Sets Rungwela Apart

A focused workshop where experience, honesty, and proper tools come together — without the overhead of a large service centre.

Six Reasons Customers Return to Rungwela

Not marketing points — working practices that have shaped how we operate since 2011.

Honest Assessment First

We inspect and report before charging for anything. If the work is straightforward, we say so. If it is not worth the cost, we say that too.

Experienced Hands

Our lead watchmaker has over fifteen years of mechanical watch experience. Movements are handled by people who understand them, not generalists.

Tropical Climate Knowledge

Phuket's humidity accelerates lubricant degradation and gasket wear. We service with that reality in mind, not with temperate-climate assumptions.

Plain Written Reports

Every completed job comes with a written summary you can keep. No technical jargon unless you want it. Results, findings, and recommendations in plain language.

Clear Pricing

Service prices are stated upfront. Additional work is quoted before it begins. You will not be surprised when you collect the piece.

Secure, Accountable Handling

Your watch is photographed, logged, and stored securely. We keep a small number of pieces in the workshop at any one time — so each one gets proper attention.

Professional Expertise

Rungwela's lead watchmaker trained in Chiang Mai and has worked exclusively on mechanical timepieces for over fifteen years. That means hands-on familiarity with a wide range of calibres — from entry-level automatics to vintage movements that require particular care.

  • Fifteen-plus years of mechanical watch experience
  • Familiarity with Swiss, Japanese, and vintage calibres
  • Specialist knowledge of tropical climate service requirements

Technology and Equipment

We use calibrated timing equipment to measure rate accuracy before and after service, and a dedicated pressure tester for water resistance assessment. Ultrasonic cleaning for movement parts, appropriate lubricants for each calibre type, and proper optical magnification for case work.

  • Calibrated timing machine for accuracy measurement
  • Pressure testing equipment for water resistance checks
  • Current-generation lubricants appropriate to calibre

Customer Service

From the first message to collection, communication is clear and consistent. Our liaison team contacts you if anything changes during the service. Updates are given without you having to chase. Drop-off and collection are arranged at a time that works for you.

  • Pre-work consultation — no surprise scope changes
  • Updates provided without prompting
  • Clear written completion report on collection

Value and Pricing

Our service prices are competitive for the Phuket market and reflect the actual work involved. A mechanical service at ฿5,500 covers a complete disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and regulated timing — there are no hidden add-ons. Water resistance assessment at ฿2,000 includes seal renewal and a written pressure test report.

  • Fixed prices for defined service scopes
  • Additional work quoted separately before proceeding
  • No call-out fees for consultation or assessment

Results and Outcomes

A well-serviced mechanical watch runs more accurately, lasts longer between services, and is less likely to develop moisture damage in a humid climate. Our aim on every mechanical service is a regulated rate within ±15 seconds per day and a clean, properly lubricated movement. For water resistance work, we test to the manufacturer's stated rating and document the result.

  • Target timing accuracy of ±15 seconds per day post-service
  • Water resistance tested and documented to rated specification
  • Photographic record before and after case work

Things That Make Rungwela Different

We Say No When We Should

Not every watch is suitable for every repairer. If a job is beyond our scope or the economics do not make sense for the owner, we say so plainly and, where possible, suggest alternatives. This is less common in the repair trade than it should be.

Phuket-Specific Service Logic

Island humidity changes the service interval calculation. We factor this in when advising on timing for future services — not with a universal figure, but based on how and where you wear the watch.

Documentation You Can Keep

Our completion reports are dated and describe what was done. If you sell the watch, or send it for further work elsewhere, this record has value. It is yours — not filed away on our system.

One Point of Contact

Your watch does not pass through a booking system, a dispatch team, and a generic counter. You deal with the same person from drop-off to collection, and they know the history of the job.
